Who do you look like?

#1

#3

Can you guess which one is Sam?

If you guessed #3, then you guessed right!

The first photo is Cousin Cole (Peggy's nephew - Robbie's son, who is now 3 1/2 yrs old) and the second is Maggie.

You're already two weeks old!

Sweet dreams my prince...

Thanks to lots of help from Nanny & Papa and Grammy Malloy as well as other family and friends, even though it's been two weeks since your arrival, we have yet to really experience life as the parents of two children. With that said, I have already noticed one thing though - the laundry has tripled; I had forgotten how much laundry a newborn generates.

You are a good baby Sam; nursing and sleeping well. At present time you nurse every 3 hrs and are up at night 1-2 times. Because you are an efficient eater though you only nurse for 20 mins and then go right back to sleep so Mom is not finding the nights too difficult. As an experienced parent, I also have a better grasp on how fast you will grow up so I am cherishing our special moments alone at night even if it is an interruption in my sleep. With Maggie, I remember how your Dad & I were always anticipating the next phase - when will she sleep through the night? when will she sit up? when will she walk? I think I can say with some confidence that we will not do this as much with you and instead try to enjoy the stage you are in.

Maggie loves her baby brother! She is very gentle with you and loves to kiss you. She helps Mommy by giving you your soother, putting your dirty diapers in the garbage and bringing Mommy her pillow and a glass of water each time she nurses. Mommy & Daddy felt her adjust to your presence in other ways though; mostly in terms of how she screamed at us to get our attention. Fortunately, her transition only lasted 3-4 days and Maggie is already back to her ol'self. On the cuter side, she refers to you as "ammey" and she holds your hand as the two of you sit side by side in your car seats. It's really quite adorable!

This time with you is so special Sam. Being home with a you has reminded me again of the important things in life. Any accomplishments your father and I have had or will come to have will never compare to being your parents. Having you and Maggie makes us want to be better people.

We love you so very much.
Love, Mom

Introducing John Samuel Malloy!

You are finally here! A baby boy for Mommy & Daddy and a baby brother for Maggie.
You were born at 8:47 am weighing 8 lbs 10 oz and measuring 20 inches long. The surgery went very well and both you and Mom are doing fine.

You are the fifth John Malloy but just like your Daddy (John Jeffrey the 4th), we have decided to call you by your middle name which is Samuel (or Sam or Sammy). We are so proud to pass on both these names to our beautiful baby boy.

Your first visitors today were Grammy Carol, Nanny & Grampie Sam, Grampie Jack and of course your big sister Maggie. Your were also introduced to Dave & Marn, Julie Kyle, Kathia, Jeff and Zach Ferguson, Cousin Carol Ottens, Uncle Mike and Heidi. You will meet many more freinds and relatives in the upcoming days!! Mommy didn't get much sleep last night(maybe an hour or two) as she was quite anxious, awaiting your arrival. She was able to catch-up on some much required rest in the afternoon today.

The delivery went very well, however the doctors had trouble getting you out of Mommys pelvic area. Unlike your older sister you were prepared for a natural birth. The way the doctors put it was they had to "scoop you out", and in the process bruised your cheek. Daddy suggested we put a hockey jersey on you since you looked tough!! At first he figured a HABS jersey, to represent the toughness, however it looked like you may have taken the worst of the battle therefore a Leafs jersey may be more appropriate!! Just Kidding, I would never do that to you!!! Anyhow we all love you very much already and can't wait until tomorrow to introduce you to the world.

As parents we wondered if we would be able to love a second child as much as our first but what "they" say is true: somehow your heart expands and we have certainly found just as much love for you! We are so very blessed to have two beautiful and healthy children - our million dollar family!
Love, Dad

Anxiously awaiting your arrival

It's hard to believe that I am currently 38 weeks along in my pregnancy; it went by so fast. Our c-section is scheduled for the morning of July 17th. Having this date means that we can plan around it (Nanny & Grampy are coming to help and Daddy has requested the week off from work) however Mommy is getting bigger by the day and is not sure you'll wait until the 17th to make your arrival. I guess we'll see soon enough.

I'm off work now and busy preparing your nursery and other necessary items. The nesting instinct has definately kicked in as I've also begun cleaning everything in sight. We're also attempting to prepare your big sister Maggie for your arrival by reading her special books about new babies and being a big sister. We're not sure how much she understands but she certainly seems to like these books. When asked whether she wants a brother or sister Maggie responds "brudder". She points to my tummy and says "Mommy's baby" and then points to Daddy's belly and says "Daddy's baby". She also refers to her former room as the baby's room and can tell you that the new baby will be sleeping in the crib. It's all pretty adorable! The picture above was taken about a month ago....our first family photo of 4 and as you can see, Maggie loves you already.

You are kicking Mom alot these days; particularly at night. I'm guessing this is your way of preparing me for the sleepless nights to come. While I am a bit uncomfortable, I am not having any other related pregnancy issues such as heartburn or indigestion so this is certainly a plus. Because Daddy & I expect you will be our last child, I am trying to enjoy these last few days of the pregnancy; taking time to reflect on every movement you make and every hiccup.

We love you so much already and can't wait to introduce you to the world.
Love, Mom
